Beyond the additional traffic lanes, the widening project will add a new traffic signal at Dyer Boulevard and Carroll Street to accommodate the new lanes as well as updated street lighting and sidewalks. The $7.5 million project officially began on October 29, 2018 and is projected to be complete in early 2020.

Completion: February 11, 2020

​All work on Carroll Street is complete including all four lanes, new sidewalks, street lighting and traffic signals. This $7.5 million project was completed on schedule and on budget.

Update: July 17, 2019

90% of the eastbound lanes are complete and final paving will begin the week of July 22. Once the final lift of asphalt is finished, temporary striping will be installed and all four lanes will be open to traffic. At that point, crews will complete final striping, signage, grassing and street light installation.

Update: April 17, 2019

The north side of the Carroll Street widening project is complete and all traffic has been moved to the new lanes. Work has begun on the south side of the project. Once complete, Carroll Street will have four lanes from Donegan Avenue on the west and John Young Parkway on the east.
